Team Orlik is an aerobatic demonstration team of the Polish Air Force which displays using nine PZL-130 Orlik aircraft which gives the team its name.
In 1999 "Orlik" team participated in air shows in Slovakia and Lithuania, where it has been awarded the best aerobatic team.
In the year 2000 team was invited to two most important events which took place at Dijon (International Aerobatic Teams Fly-in) and in Biggin Hill (The Battle of Britain 50th anniversary air show).

PZL 130 Orlik (Eaglet) is a Polish turboprop, single engine, two seat trainer.
The plane was originally designed with the Russian Vedeneyev M-14Pm piston engine but, since PZL-130 was thought to have some attributes of a jet plane, it was replaced by a turboprop engine.
In 1986, the Turbo Orlik, with a Pratt and Whitney PT6A-25P turboprop engine was flown for the first time.

These pigeons are capable of such fast ascendants rates primarily due to the fact that their manner of flight is straight up as though they were climbing a ladder, opposed to gradual climbing by flying in circles or zig zagging upwards.

Besides the always excellent Red Arrows, the Polish Air Force Orlik team was the only other national display team present, their five home-produced PZL-130TC trainers flying a four ship formation and singleton display.
The pyrotechnics team had the time of their lives as the fighters taxied out (the speed with which the airport fire department reacted suggests they went a little overboard).
Of course, there was a certain amount of poetic license required, it's unlikely back in 1940 they would have taxied the length of the runway to scramble, or bother to use it even if one was available.

The Waddington Air Show team this year were quick to invite the Romanian Air Force and it’s attractive MiG-21MF Lancer C's down from Lossiemouth where they were on deployment.
Whilst the Polish Air Force’s aerobatic display team ‘Team Orlik’ in their nine PZL-130 Orlik trainers might not be the most spectacular, their display was varied and interesting.
Whilst you can’t help thinking that the display could have been more impressive, just seeing four of these gravity defying aircraft, hovering in front of the crowd line, was more than enough for everyone.
