Ormet's new power agreement was approved by state regulators last month and, after workers prepared smelting pots to restart, electricity was turned back on Monday.
Before the labor dispute, Ormet was the largest employer in Monroe County, which has the state's highest unemployment rate at 8.4 percent.
Ormet currently employs about 900 people at its plants in Ohio and Louisiana, but 300 of those jobs will be lost when the two Louisiana plants close at the end of the month, Regelman said.

Ormet emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy last year, and has since sold the rolling mill where aluminum is rolled into sheets to Beachwood, Ohio-based Aleris International Inc. Linda Regelman, an Ormet spokeswoman, said workers at the rolling mill were laid off and will not be called back.
Ormet has indicated that workers from its former rolling mill will be given preference for open positions at the reduction plant once those workers are called back, said Chuck Ballard, president of Steelworkers Local 5760, which represents 500 employees from the rolling mill.
Ormet was the largest employer in Ohio's Monroe County, which has about 15,000 residents and had a 9.2 percent unemployment rate in May, the highest in the state.

NEW YORK – Ormet Corp. said Friday it is halting production of aluminum converter foil at its Jackson, Tenn., foil mill because of overcapacity in the foil sector, soft foil prices and a faltering economy, according to American Metal Market on Nov 9.
Wheeling, W.Va.,-headquartered Ormet, which also has a big aluminum smelting and rolling complex in Hannibal, Ohio, said the move was "temporary" and will require laying off 113 salaried and hourly workers, leaving about 115 on the job.
Ormet said the Jackson plant, which draws its reroll stock from the Hannibal mill, will continue to produce foil for internal requirements elsewhere in the system.

Ormet Corp. and the United Steelworkers of America union have reached a tentative pact that may end a 19-month strike by about 1,500 workers at company plants in Hannibal, Ohio.
