Osage County Sheriff Ken Lippert said no towns or housing areas had been in the tornado's path through that county, though the twister had traveled through several farmsteads.
The Osage County sheriff said initial indications were that the tornado went up and down several times, then stayed on the ground, traveling northeast from east of Lyndon until it lifted back into the air shortly before reaching Overbrook.
In Woodson County during a 30-minute time frame starting at 6:58 p.m., a tornado was spotted 10 miles west of Yates Center, homes were reported damaged in an area eight miles northeast of that town, and large amounts of structural damage were reported in Yates Center, according to information from the NWS Web site.

Rural Osage County, just east and south of Missouri’s capital, has been the only place outside the state’s largest cities not to accept applications for concealed-weapons permits.
The high court said Jackson County and three other counties did not have to implement the law because opponents had shown in court the law would impose costs not covered by the state - an unconstitutional, unfunded mandate.
Citing cost concerns similar to Jackson County, St. Louis County also is seeking a court declaration that it does not have to implement the law.

He represented Coffey County in the Legislature in 1866, and was County Commissioner of Osage County in 1870, and is now Trustee of the Township.
In 1857, he came to Kansas and settled at Leavenworth, and in 1868 moved to Osage County on a farm in Junction township, where he owns 860 acres, improved, and raises stock on quite an extensive scale, and employs from two to six men.
He settled in Franklin County and was successful there; in 1870 he purchased a large farm in Junction Township, containing 560 acres, and eighty acres in Franklin County, and has since devoted his time to improving his farm.

We will divide into groups and parade through Osage County on the various tours with all groups and cars to end up at The Osage County Community Center, east of Linn, near Linn State Technical College.

An armor coat is a layer of crushed rock sprayed with an epoxy, according to an ODOT spokesman.
