Osaka was for a long time Japan's most important economic center with a large percentage of the population belonging to the merchant class (see Four divisions of society).
Osaka is known for bunraku (traditional puppet theatre) and kabuki theatre, and for manzai, a more contemporary form of stand-up comedy.
Osaka is still a center of higher education in Japan, comparable to Kyoto or Tokyo's 23 special wards.

Before the game, Atsuo Mori of Buffaloes let me on the Osaka Dome field and I was able to take some pictures that came out OK despite the spotty lighting.
The Buffaloes may bill themselves now as the Osaka Buffaloes (no corporate name is used in advertising although the team is owned by the Kintetsu Corp.), but it seems that the baseball hearts and minds of the Osaka area belong to another team.

On entering the arena of the Dome, I was overwhelmed by the set of seemingly a hundred feet long from left to right after having enjoyed relatively small-sized venues of Budokan and Yokohama arena.
But I managed to go to Osaka for the March 20 concert despite the the ethical and finacial difficulties.
Anyway, out of the 30-odd Stones concerts I attended to, the March 20 concert in Osaka Dome was one of the best.

event, held at Osaka Dome on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th (the day I went) and 8th of January.
Osaka Dome is a couple minutes away from the JR Taishô station, and the it is HUGE!
Overall, "Super Chara Dome 2006" was a ton of fun, and I'm hoping I'll be able to attend similar events in the near future.
