New faces: Kintetsu addressed its pitching woes in the offseason by acquiring Dodgers right-hander Kevin Beirne, Yakult middle-reliever Naoya Shimada and unheralded lefty Hitoshi Ono, who went 6-3 with 103 strikeouts and a 1.68 ERA in 96 2/3 innings on Yomiuri's farm team last year.
