Once the largest castle in Japan when originally built in the 1580s, this castle has an observation platform with city views and a history museum that uses holograms, 3D pictures and other technologies to describe the history of the castle and the period during which it was built.
Osaka Castle itself is quite lovely and the grounds are very nice.
The park area outside of the castle (in March there are lovely plum blossoms), is a nice way to spend a couple of hours.

After the war, Osaka Castle in 1948 began a new era as a “historic site park.” The Main Tower was reopened to the public, repair work on the remaining building was undertaken, and a new museum was established.
The beautiful appearance of the original castle, which was embellished with white walls and glittering gold, has been revived by replastering the outer walls, restoring ornamental fixtures, and reapplying gold leaf.
