The NPD's fact-pages. Field OSEBERG ØST.
Oseberg Øst is an oil field and has been developed with a facility with a steel jacket with accommodation, drilling equipment and first stage separation of oil, water and gas.
The oil is piped to the Oseberg Field Centre for further processing and transport through the Oseberg Transport System (OTS) pipeline to Sture terminal.
The field has a relatively low rate of recovery, although various measures for increasing oil recovery are being considered in an ongoing process.

 Norway as an Oil Producer
Oil ~-om both this platform and the StatfJord B and C platforms is loaded out in the field.
The country's oil output expanded beyond the expectations of earlier prognoses, mainly because better understanding of the reservoirs was obtained and technological breakthroughs facilitated their exploitation.
However, it would be natural to reach agreements to cooperate on the exploitation of oil and gas which lies on both sides of the boundary, as Norway and the UK did in connection with the StatfJord, Frigg and Murchison fields in the North Sea.

Hydro - How to develop an oil field
It is made up of three platforms (Oseberg A, B and D), which are linked by bridges in the southern part of the field, and Oseberg C, which is 14 kilometres north of the field centre.
Oseberg A is a concrete platform with process equipment and living quarters, while Oseberg B has a steel jacket with drilling and injection equipment.
When the pipeline system from Oseberg to the oil terminal at Sture north of Bergen came into operation in December 1988, it was the first time that oil produced on the Norwegian continental shelf was transported to Norway via a pipeline.

Current Liberalisation Status - Upstream Oil and Gas
Oil production is not significant and reserves are decreasing, as a number of the country’s oil fields, for example, Schoonbeek (onshore), Kotter and Logger (both offshore), are reaching the stage of decommissioning.
Oil and gas reserves were discovered in the second half of the 19th century in the Carpathian Mountains and the first oil pipeline in Ukraine were built in 1912 from Boryslav to Drohobych.
Oil revenues are proving insufficient to satisfy budgetary needs, however, and Oman is seeking to reduce its reliance on the oil sector through promoting investment in and development of other sectors of the economy.

Hydro - More oil on Oseberg South
The field's estimated resources have increased by almost 50 million barrels of oil in place, of which some 15 million barrels are recoverable.
The increased oil resources were proven in connection with the drilling of water injection well 30/9-F-26 on Oseberg South in the North Sea, approximately 130 kilometres northwest of Bergen.
Oil is also produced on the most northerly structure, by means of four wells drilled from the Oseberg Field Centre.

Structure contour maps of horizons offset by faults serve as a proxy for the vertical displacement fields.
Maerten et al., (2000) developed a methodology for inferring the tipline geometry by comparing observed slip distributions to those computed with geomechanical numerical models, in which fault are approximated as dislocations in an elastic half space.
Based on examples from the Oseberg Syd oil field, in the North Sea, the authors demonstrate how the methodology can be applied to increase confidence in the seismic resolution.

A detailed 3D reservoir model is developed for the Oseberg Formation at the giant Oseberg oil field in the Norwegian North Sea to help evaluate late stage field development scenarios and options.
The Oseberg Formation consists of a sand-rich complex of Gilbert-type fan deltas situated along the western margin of the Hordaland platform on the eastern flank of the Viking Graben.
Results from modeling suggest that petrophysics is an excellent proxy for facies and that architectural elements of the Oseberg Gilbert deltas are readily identified in the 3-D petrophysical models.

The End of Cheap Oil, by Colin J. Campbell, Jean Laherrere
To judge accurately how much oil explorers will uncover in the future, one has to backdate every revision to the year in which the field was first discovered—not to the year in which a company or country corrected an earlier estimate.
We agree with analysts at the USGS World Oil Assessment program and elsewhere who rank the total resources there as roughly equivalent to those of the North Sea that is, perhaps 50 Gbo but certainly not several hundreds of billions as sometimes reported in the media.
In the 1960s oil companies assumed as a rule of thumb that only 30 percent of the oil in a field was typically recoverable; now they bank on an average of 40 or 50 percent.
