		Osella Corse made another attempt in 1976 in the same league with unchanged material but by now the team was not competitive.
		Osella had to wait until the beginning of 1979 when the former Hesketh and Theodore racing Grand Prix driver Eddie Cheever was persuaded to race the well-used FA2 once again in a Formula 2 championship.
		In the mid 1980s, Osella was the political beneficiary of factory Alfa Romeo engines (both in normally aspirated (1983) and turbo (1984-87) forms).

		For a man of over 100 GP entries (and failing to qualify for a monster 31 of them) driving over half your F1 career for perennial tail-enders Osella is quite an accomplishment in itself.
		For Osella, the man must have been a God-sent, since Piercarlo wasn't overly talented but probably the only half-decent driver to never complain and keep Osella in business for a large part of the 13 seasons in which the Osella Squadra Corse competed in F1.
		In a way, that marginal presence in motorsport felt good to Joe Pundit, for with his little BMW-engined sports racer Enzo Osella returned to his roots as a two-bit sportscar constructor - just as it was also satisfying to see that Arturo Merzario was among the drivers to take on Osella in the ISRS.
