In 1963 the Metro Junior A league was disbanded, and Oshawa was readmitted in the OHA.
The greatest player ever to wear an Oshawa Generals uniform, Bobby Orr went on the become a legend in the NHL and to be inducted in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
The Generals were coached that year by former alumnus, Armand "Bep" Guidolin, who played for Oshawa in the 1942 Memorial Cup, and subsequently made the Boston Bruins of the NHL as a 16 year old.

Oshawa Arena, also known as Hambly's Arena after owner William (Bill) Hambly Sr., was built in 1930 and replaced Bradley's Arena which had burned down in June of 1928.
The Generals themselves were rendered homeless and ultimately disbanded, although pieces of the team were ultimately reorganized into the equally legendary Whitby Dunlops, who won the Senior World Championship in the late 1950's.
The Generals would not reappear until 1963, and even then they played their first season and part of the second in the nearby Bowmanville Memorial Arena while the Oshawa Civic Auditorium was under construction.

The Oshawa Generals lived up to their promise, selecting 14-year-old prospect John Tavares with the first overall pick in the Ontario Hockey League's priority selection draft on Saturday.
Two days ago, the Generals announced they were going to pick Tavares, who turns 15 in September, when the league granted him exceptional underage player status earlier this week.
The Generals plan to move into a new 5,400-seat arena in 2006 and bid for the Memorial Cup in 2008.
