  African Artworks on the Web
Nigerian contemporary abstract oil painting has its roots in traditional art and craftworks and its identity and strength from the development of three key artist colonies or workshops - Oshogbo/Mbari, Zaria and Nsukka.
Oshogbo/Mbari: The Oshogbo Workshop began in the early 1960's with a group of artists who combined traditional Nigerian and African forms and techniques with modern artistic influences.
