The eastern boundary of Tryon County was approximately five miles west of the present city of Schenectady, and the county included the western part of the Adirondack Mountains and the area west of the West Branch of the Delaware River.
Oswego County is in northwestern New York State, just north of Syracuse and northwest of Utica, on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario.
In the county the population is spread out with 26.80% under the age of 18, 10.90% from 18 to 24, 28.90% from 25 to 44, 22.10% from 45 to 64, and 11.30% who are 65 years of age or older.

In 1798, a portion of Herkimer County, together with a portion of Tioga County, was taken to form Chenango County.
Herkimer County is in central New York State, northwest of Albany, and east of Syracuse.
In the county the population is spread out with 24.40% under the age of 18, 8.30% from 18 to 24, 26.60% from 25 to 44, 24.00% from 45 to 64, and 16.80% who are 65 years of age or older.

The economic impact of visitor expenditures is measured in four ways: by the number of full-time equivalent jobs supported by tourism; the amount of wages, salaries and proprietary income generated; state government revenues generated; and local government revenues generated by tourism.
Oswego County numbers would reflect a 19% unemployment rate without visitor expenditures.
The results of the study are expressed for Northern New York as a whole, for the Adirondack region (Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Herkimer/Town of Webb, Lewis and Warren counties), for the Thousand Islands region (Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Oswego counties), and for each county individually.

These reports from jefferson and Oswego counties do not tally exactly with reports that the bomber was flying over the Syracuse area about 2:30 a.m., when radio contact with the plane and its crew of eight men was lost.
Supervisor William J. Alone of Redfield, which is on the southwestern slope of Tug hill in Oswego county, reported to Sgt. O.H. Gardinier of Pulaski state police patrol that his mother and Merton Yerdon of Redfield heard a plane at 11 p.m.
SP 1/c Stanley Feldman of the Oswego station said that the plane was seen about a mile west of where the wreckage was floating east, it was believed, that it most have broken loose shortly before it was seen.

In response to the EEE virus isolations, the Suffolk County Department of Health Services in cooperation with the Suffolk County Department of Public Works initiated helicopter applications of the mosquito adulticide Scourge (resmetherin) and between August 14 and September 11 a total of 17,120 acres were treated.
Oswego County did not initiate control activities in response to the EEE virus isolations.

OSWEGO - Tourists generated more than $115 million in economic impact on Oswego County last year, according to a study recently released by Northern New York Travel and Tourism Research Center of SUNY Potsdam.
The study measures the economic impact of tourist expenditures in four ways: the number of full-time equivalent jobs supported by tourism; the amount of wages, salaries and proprietary income generated; state government revenues produced from tourism; and local government revenues generated.
Oswego County led the 10 Northern New York counties surveyed in the category of visitor spending on recreation, at $35.2 million, according to the study.

Bent be admitted to a seat in the House.  He was admitted, and afterwards submitted a Bill to "organize and define the boundaries of Labette county," which passed, and was approved the 7th of February, 1867.  The word La Bette is French, and signifies "the beet."
Later, the county was named for the creek.
The early history of Labette County was marred by a mysterious and murderous family named Bender who were never brought to justice.

James W. Wright, Republican, Conservative, Independent, is serving his seventh term in the New York State Senate, representing the state's 48th Senate District which includes all of Jefferson and Oswego counties and a portion of St. Lawrence County.
The Senator quickly ascended through the ranks of county government, and in 1979 was appointed as the first County Administrator of Oswego County.
He graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego in 1971, and attended the Maxwell School of Public Administration at Syracuse University.

Population trends (1970 to 2000) show an overall increase in the populations of Lewis, Madison and Oswego Counties, and a decline in Oneida and Onondaga Counties.

US Senator Charles E. Schumer today urged the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to reimburse the counties of Oswego, Lewis, Cayuga, and Oneida to help them recover from an onslaught of snow as soon as possible.
Officials from Oswego and Fulton are still determining the total cost of the cleanup, but some officials in Fulton estimate that $150,000 was spent clearing roads and roofs while Oswego officials have not yet arrived at an estimate.
Schumer said that the assistance was particularly vital considering the danger that was posed to pedestrians and drivers because of the tall snowbanks.
