New Zealand uses a voting system called "MMP" (Mixed Member Proportional), a system that originated in Germany (I think) and was voted in via referendum in the 1993 election.
Since they won an Electoral seat, they get a 5% allocation of the 120 seats however, which they can fill from their list (aside from the seat won by the electoral candidate, no matter where they appeared on the list)
Thankfully, 15 years of right wing politics has left an indelible mark on New Zealand society, and some of the freedoms gained in the Revolution can never be taken away.
