Oteil Burbridge is a "musician's musician," a bass guitar idol, and a master of jam band-style funk, rock, blues, jazz, and everything in between.
Burbridge first emerged as a founding member of Aquarium Rescue Unit, a group that recorded their first album in the early '90s and hit the road on the H.O.R.D.E. tour with other like-minded bands.
Burbridge played on the 1999 Stranger's Hand album with Howard Levy, Jerry Goodman, and Steve Smith, and in 2000 he released his first solo CD, an instrumental effort entitled Love of a Lifetime.

For his part, Burbridge first came to prominence in the early '90s playing with the scruffy Atlanta enigma called Col Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit, one of the original H.O.R.D.E. acts that cracked the door open for heavily instrumental and improvisational young bands.
But Burbridge has also maintained a steady solo gig for most of the past decade as well, leading his own band, the Peacemakers, through the club scene, in between the Bonnaroos and stadium gigs that the Allmans play.

Formed in Atlanta, Georgia, the Aquarium Rescue Unit, with its constantly changing lineup, was a cornerstone member of the early jam band scene, with players that eventually became members of the Allman Brothers Band, Phil Lesh and Friends, Leftover Salmon, and Frogwings.

It had a heavy jazz feel to it, as well as a good funky groove (not that those two idioms are incompatible...).
