Probability - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Like other theories, the theory of probability is a representation of probabilistic concepts in formal terms—that is, in terms that can be considered separately from their meaning.
Probabilities are equivalently expressed as odds, which is the ratio of the probability of one event to the probability of all other events.
There are others who argue that probability is properly applied only to random events as outcomes of some specified random experiment, for example sampling from a population; this is the frequentist interpretation.

The Iroquois Confederacy took up a policy of inviting other tribes throughout the east coast to move to the New York/ Pennsylvania region in order to create a buffer zone between their traditional lands to the east of Lake Erie and the English settlers who were pushing steadily toward that region.
When the Iroquois Confederacy invited other tribes to migrate and settle in the central and southern regions of Pennsylvania and to take advantage of their protection those other tribes became part of the confederacy in regard to "political" loyalty and affiliation.
One other tribe, which would leave its mark on this region, responded to the Five Nations' request for immigrants to settle between them and the white settlers: the Shawanese or Shawnee tribe.

Brahmanism and Buddhism, on the other hand, true to the facts, recognize in a positive way that man is related generally to the whole of nature, and specially and principally to animal nature; and in their systems man is always represented by the theory of metempsychosis and otherwise, as closely connected with the animal world.

Like other theories, the theory of probability is a representation of probabilistic concepts in formal terms -- that is, in terms that can be considered separately from their meaning.
For example, if two mutually exclusive events are assumed equally probable, such as a flipped coin landing heads-up or tails-up, we can express the probability of each event as "1 in 2", or, equivalently, "50%" or "1/2".
He can't decide whether this is just a random event - after all, it is possible (although unlikely) that a fair coin would give this result - or whether his assumption that the coin is fair is at fault.
