The three most important events that led up to, and caused it, were the Boston Massacre, The Boston Tea Party, and The Stamp Act.
The, so-called, Boston Tea Party was an event that took place December 16, 1773, by a group of Boston citizens to protest the British tax on tea imported to the colonies.
The Stamp Act was an act introduced by the British prime minister George Grenville and passed by the British Parliament in 1765 as a means of raising revenue in the American colonies.

Giovanni Paolo Pannini (Italian, 1691-1765) was born in 1691 in Piacenza and died in 1765 in Rome.
He was trained as a stage designer but became famous in Rome as the leading painter of real and imaginary views of the city.
Pannini's importance lies in the fact that as a teacher at the most prestigious art academy in Rome, the Academie de France, Pannini taught a generation of French and Italian painters how to synthesize of the heritage of the Italian renaissance with the innovations of recent French painting.

 The American Revolution (John Bull and Uncle Sam)
The Stamp Act, which taxed Americans for stamps imprinted on a wide variety of legal and official documents, was the first measure passed by the British parliament to arouse widespread antagonism in the thirteen colonies.
Taking effect on November 1, 1765, it was considered by both British and American leaders as a precedent-setting measure because of the important point it established, the right of parliament to lay an internal tax upon the colonies.
This is a proof sheet of one-penny stamps, submitted for approval to the Commissioners of Stamps by an engraver on May 10, 1765.
