This is a file of Chronological Order of Events of some 140 events indexed by date of the Cherokee Nation, beginning with c1540 Hernando DeSOTO (first white man seen by the Cherokees) to the 1995 Principal Chiefs of the Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma USA.
Much of this land was claimed by other tribes and by the British and French, and it was desired by the Spanish.
The Watauga settlers then fled, leaving  others to suffer the consequences.
