 08 Slave Records of 1822 to 1834
From 1822 a record was also kept of the changes of the slaves held, which recorded all new slaves acquired through purchase, birth, bequest etc. and all slaves lost through sale, transfer to another country, runaway, emancipated or death.
It is almost certain that not all slaves were being counted, for example towards the end there are slaves being owned in 1831 but there are no returns from the slave owners in 1834, which there should be if they were supposed to record the changes in slave holdings from 1831 to 1834.
In some instances a group of slaves would be owned by several family members, and in other cases the same slave owner is recorded twice, either duplication of a record or with different slaves.

ESA Science & Technology: What happened on Sun-Earth Day?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30)
On Friday 27 April, as planned, during the whole day, we held a space weather science workshop, which was the occasion of a first general gathering of research teams in Belgium, Holland and France, that now participate in a joint co-ordinated project.
So, for sure, the prime topic of the next meeting will be to identify a common goal, where models will be developed to better use the available data (like SOHO daily images) and to provide an output that can be used as a real-time predictive tool in place of the current largely empirical methods.
There were other important events on that day (in particular in Flanders) so we had only weak coverage by the press (a few short articles; one or two interviews, of which a live interview on the French-speaking radio RTBF at lunchtime on Friday, which probably had the largest impact).

A War That Cannot Be Won - Mises Institute   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30)
Its meaning, of course, was a reference to the vital role in the conduct of hostilities played by those who worked in factories producing munitions and the means to deliver them to the enemy.
This is, that to every person at home who favors the prosecution of the war, those others at home who do not favor it perforce become another incarnation of the enemy, deep in the bosom of the hinterlands.
Some of those opposed to war may stand and be cut down like sheaves of wheat before the scythes of their opponents, while others will choose, in the desperation of self-preservation, to employ the very methods they deplore.

An Introductory Address, by John Henry Hobart (1822)
An institution, organized by the Church in her highest legislative council with a unanimity and cordiality that could not have been anticipated, has commenced its operations in this city under auspices that promise not to disappoint the expectations of its founders and patrons.
The interest and the zeal of all are now firmly united in an institution which is the undivided object of their earnest solicitude, their generous exertions, and, may I not add, their prayers.
It cannot be that the descendants of those who have raised in another nation the noblest monuments of literary and religious benevolence, will permit the present effort to transmit to posterity the blessings of divine truth, to fail at the outset.

The amygdala is an important brain structure both for the acquisition of learned fears and for the retention of these types of memories.

It appears that based on brain activity in areas controlling emotion, both non-depressed and depressed people may be capable of controlling their affect through reappraisal.
