It was this regiment that did the basic planning and building of Fort Wyman, although other regiments undertook the task of finishing it.
Other towns within the county included Newburg, incorporated in 1888, and St. James, incorporated in 1869.

 Stamps Celebrating Royal Events
Different portraits were issued throughout her reign, such as in 1881 on the 4 pence and 5 pence Stamps, but she never appeared on a Turks and Caicos stamp until after her death.
In 1993 the 40th anniversary of her coronation saw Stamps being issued which showed the chalice and paten from the royal collection (15 cents), official coronation photograph showing the Queen seated (50 cents), the coronation ceremony ($1), the Queen and Prince Philip (1.25) and a new portrait of the Queen ($2).
Probably one the saddest Royal Events to be recorded by a commemorative set of Turks and Caicos Islands Stamps were those issued in 1998 to mark the life of Princess Diana who was tragically killed in a car crash in 1997.

     The beginnings of Ellsworth were troubled times.  Natural disasters and other incidents plagued the fledgling town and threatened its very existence.
     The plans for Ellsworth were put forth in January 1867.  The settlement would be on the western edge of the Fort Harker military reservation.  The proximity of the fort offered protection, and the Smoky Hill River nearby offered a ready water supply.
     The coming of the railroad was a much anticipated event in Ellsworth.  The expectation that Ellsworth would be the major cattle market had brought numerous people to the town.

Perhaps on the model of Robert Browning's dramatic monologues, "Dover Beach" might express what typical well-educated newlywed couples, the sacrament of marriage still echoing in their memories, might feel in the privacy of their room, far from priests and relatives with unexceptional dogmas.
On the other hand, the escalating negativism and subtly veiled threat in the last verse paragraph cannot as easily be explained away as a partly-flawed transition resulting from its composition earlier than the first three paragraphs.
