Immigration Quotas, Ellis Island and Other Events of 1923 part 3
All other countries of the world, it was asserted by a high Government official, require the steamship companies bringing in immigrants to take full responsibility for them until they are definitely rejected or accepted.
In other words, the quota law, shutting out as it does hordes of foreigners and even brother Britishers, is of distinct advantage to this country in facing the unemployment problem, which everybody hopes will never become acute again.
Other vessels expected to reach their piers during the day are the Albania, Celtic, Cleveland, Columbia, Conte Rosso, Orca, Patria, President Arthur, Volendam and Suffern.

On the other hand, because linguistic expressions of facts are semantically transparent, a Fregean line of argument could be concocted to show instead that events construed as facts are too coarse-grained, to the point of melting into a single "big" entity [Davidson 1967a].
In particular, a difference in the relevant constitutive property is sufficient to distinguish events such as Caesar's death, construed as Caesar's exemplification of the property of dying, and Caesar's violent death, construed as his exemplification of the property of dying violently [Kim 1976].
On the other hand, it is not clear that the indeterminacy is any worse in the case of events than in the case of objects, and we seem able to theorize in a systematic fashion about them [Lombard 1998].

Events of the 1920s--Honda Point Disaster, 8 September 1923 -- Later Views of the Wrecks
When the special train took hundreds of survivors from Honda Station on the afternoon of 9 September 1923, eighteen Navy men were left behind as a "Wreck Patrol", assigned to protect the seven stranded destroyers from looters, watch for the bodies of the dead and recover them if possible.
Some guns and other heavy items had to be left behind, particularly on the wrecks furthest from the mainland, where recovery was simply too dangerous.
Other "tin-cans", from the vast surplus of destroyers built under the World War I building program, soon replaced the lost ships in the operating forces.

On the other side, in 1914 the Qadiani Jama‘at vigorously launched a plan on a grand scale for a body of ten or twelve men jointly to produce an Urdu and an English translation of the Quran.
The other principle kept in mind is that authentic Hadith reports should be given preference over other sources, and for this reason Imam Bukhari’s chapter on the commentary of the Quran, and the commentaries of Ibn Jarir and Ibn Kathir are kept in view.
In his Friday sermons and through other means, while he would stress upon the need for spreading the Holy Quran and propagating Islam, he also made clear that it is absolutely essential for the members of a Movement which seeks to spread the Quran that they themselves study the Quran and act upon its teachings.

H-Net Review: Brian McCook on The Ruhr Crisis, 1923-1924
Instead, he stresses that the willingness of the Ruhr population to engage in a passive resistance campaign (January-September 1923) against the occupation highlights the widespread legitimacy that the Weimar Republic actually enjoyed in the eyes of its populace.
The central government had already lost control of events in the Ruhr by the early summer and, given the meteoric inflation, now held a poor hand with which to bargain--a situation that the French subsequently used to their advantage.
Clearly, the outcome of events in the Ruhr dealt a significant blow to the legitimacy of the regime and, in some ways psychologically conditioned the German people for the later victory of National Socialism.
