On the other hand, because linguistic expressions of facts are semantically transparent, a Fregean line of argument could be concocted to show instead that events construed as facts are too coarse-grained, to the point of melting into a single "big" entity [Davidson 1967a].
In particular, a difference in the relevant constitutive property is sufficient to distinguish events such as Caesar's death, construed as Caesar's exemplification of the property of dying, and Caesar's violent death, construed as his exemplification of the property of dying violently [Kim 1976].
On the other hand, it is not clear that the indeterminacy is any worse in the case of events than in the case of objects, and we seem able to theorize in a systematic fashion about them [Lombard 1998].

The Second Sex, by Simone de Beauvoir (1949)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
In small-town eyes all persons not belonging to the village are 'strangers' and suspect; to the native of a country all who inhabit other countries are 'foreigners'; Jews are 'different' for the anti-Semite, Negroes are 'inferior' for American racists, aborigines are 'natives' for colonists, proletarians are the 'lower class' for the privileged.
And instead of a single historical event it is in both cases a historical development that explains their status as a class and accounts for the membership of particular individuals in that class.

During the rest of 1943, Wise did much to publicize the genocide the Nazis were perpetrating, but ultimately it was others who persuaded President Roosevelt that something could be done to rescue some of the remaining Jews in Europe.
In January 1944 President Roosevelt was convinced to establish the War Refugee Board, after members of the Treasury Department presented him with a scathing report outlining the State Department's history of obstructing rescue, and after members of the radical Zionist Bergson group were winning political support in Congress for an independent government rescue agency.
Others have also criticized him for his unshakable faith that FDR would do everything within his power for Europe's Jews.

It became obvious that if I were ever to succeed in garnering acceptance of the factuality and truth about my claims concerning the events of 1949 and 1950, I would first have to find sufficient documentation that would back up my claims; and, that meant I had to find that box in the attic.
