Luxury Experience - 1955 Bordeaux Wine Tasting
Prior to the event I did some research on the 1955 Bordeaux wines; I looked at the climate impact during that year, as well as various tasting notes which may be found on the Internet.
When tasting wines such as the 1955 Bordeaux you do not have much in the way of personal information to work off, and especially when you attend a tasting of a wine that is older then you are.
There were thirteen 1955 Bordeaux wines served this evening; the wines were arranged in a flight of three glasses per gastronomic pairing, with the last flight being port.

My Classic Car Television with Dennis Gage
At the time, the MG TC and its successor the TD of the late 40s and early 50s were the sports cars of the day at the increasingly popular club and road races cropping up across the country.
By the time the MGA debuted in 1955, Chevrolet and Ford had recognized the growing sports car market, but the Corvette and Thunderbird went well beyond what purists wanted in a traditionally styled sports car.
For those seeking the most elemental level of driving thrills, a wire-wheeled roadster seating two with a definite lack of creature comforts combined with a taut, balanced chassis that offered forgiveness to even the most blatant, overly-enthusiastic cornering move was the only way a sports car should be built.

The Historiography of American Foreign Policy | William B. Pickett | OAH Magazine of History
The milestones have been the European discovery of the American continent five hundred years ago, the colonial decision to seek independence from Britain together with the French decision after the battle of Saratoga to recognize the American Revolution, and by the turn of the nineteenth century, the movement of the United States to world power.
Pointing out American mistakes while acknowledging the failings of other nations and ideologies, students of American foreign relations are now writing about motives and methods of policy makers and limits placed on them by geography, population, economy, bureaucracy, and culture.
In outline, the defining events of American diplomacy include first a newly discovered region of the world as seen by the European navigators&emdash;the Western Hemisphere&emdash;and secondly a nation beholden to others but struggling to separate itself from them in association with Great Britain, the principal empire of the time.

So it came about that the poor little nation on its remote island created world literature, producing prose tales which the other European countries were unable to match for hundreds of years.
But in order to reach the people's heart, literary skill alone, however great, is not enough; the ability to depict events and exploits is not enough.
If literature is to be a "light of the world", it must strive to give a true picture of human life and conditions.
