Horne became the 15th president of OBU on June 1 after being selected by the school's board of trustees to succeed Dr. Andrew Westmoreland who left the school to become president of Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.
Making the move to Ouachita meant Horne would not only have to make a transition to a new place of employment, but he has also had to adjust to a new career.
Besides having a child who completed a degree at Ouachita, Horne spent some time as a student at OBU before moving to Alabama to be closer to his family.
