Oulton Park, located near the small village of Little Budworth in Tarporley, Cheshire, can trace its racing heritage back to 1953 when the first competitive meet was held, behind closed doors, on August 8th 1953.
The birth of Oulton Park as a racing circuit was celebrated on its 50th birthday in 2003.
The tree-lined Oulton Park circuit was now gaining a reputation for being a challenging circuit, with some useful changes in gradient and stunning surroundings.

Oulton Park Circuit is a motor racing track in the small village of Little Budworth, Cheshire, northwest England.
The track is set in the grounds of Oulton Hall, which were used as an army staging camp by General Patton prior to the Normandy landings.
Oulton Park regularly housed the 'Gold Cup' event which attracted many Formula One teams (Stirling Moss won it 5 times), but as the F1 calendar shrunk to include only Grand Prix events, the Cup became less well-known.

I’ve not ridden at Oulton for a while so I will be using the weekend to learn the track and get the Kawasaki handling well round there.

I had stripped the bike and checked pistons, barrels, heads etc and decided that as they had only covered 150 miles, they would be OK for the duration of Oulton and the bike was re-assembled with loving care and new oil all round.
Final gearing was fitted at 15 tooth front and 38 tooth rear sprockets as this had enabled me in last years race to get into the 1:39 bracket and as always I was hoping to improve on this for this round.
Oulton Park is nearly 5 hours drive (with a caravan) from Fleet, so Penny and I set off at 2.30pm to try to arrive during daylight hours which worked out as we arrived at 7pm, although the paddock was pretty full already.

This is a version of Oulton Park as it was in the 1960s.
As you'll see, it's not really a finished version, but since I don't know when I'll be able to do much more work on it, I've decided to release this version as it is, and hope to improve on it later.

I was chuffed to bits to qualify on the second row at Oulton, although I admit we had luck on our side.

Commanding both races from the front, JR never looked as though he would be headed as he brought his Rizla Suzuki GSX-R1000 home well ahead of the competition.
