Aparecida (sometimes referred to as Aparecida do Norte) is a Brazilian city and municipality in the state of São Paulo.
The population in 2004 was 35,754 (estimated) and the area of the municipality is 121.232 km².
It is home to the sanctuary of Our Lady of Aparecida, the patron saint of Brazil, declared so by Pope Pius XI in 1929.

These were just a few of the cast of characters on a seven-day religious pilgrimage/social justice march to Our Lady of Aparecida, one of Brazil’s biggest churches located 100 miles northeast of São Paulo.
The church of Our Lady of Aparecida was a natural choice as a place to end this pilgrimage, since the church is so large and so many here have a strong devotion to Mary.
