		Our Town is a 1940 film adaptation of a play of the same name by Thornton Wilder starring William Holden, Martha Scott, Fay Bainter, Beulah Bondi, Thomas Mitchell, Guy Kibbee and Frank Craven.
		It was adapted by Harry Chandlee, Craven and Wilder.
		The movie was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.

		However, it is this same scene that brings me to the film's major flaw: while the movie is generally faithful to Wilder's play, it undermines his most significant point by altering the ending.
		The film was produced in 1940, but here it sounds like an early "talkie," with constant hiss, frequent popping and clicking, heavily clipped speech and a narrow frequency range.
		This condensed presentation of Our Town is introduced by famed Hollywood producer Cecil B. DeMille, and the sound quality is much better than that of the main attraction, though it's obviously dated.
