A strategic stronghold since the Upper Middle Ages, perched high on a rocky spur overlooking the Ourthe and Lembrée valleys, the fortress was besieged 9 times, and attacked in 1521 by Charles Quint's men.
Access is possible to the remains of the keep built around 1138, and the upper sections of the castle.
It has a unique character, nestling within the famous meander of the Ourthe- itself a protected site.
