  Choosing the Right Sight
Open iron sights of one sort or another are supplied on many rifles, the other types must usually be purchased separately and installed by the rifle owner.
On the semi-buckhorn rear sight the sweeping ears of the buckhorn sight are reduced to a bulge on each side of the central notch.
Open sights are probably the lightest of all sights and have less impact on the balance and handling of the rifle than other types.

 XS Sight Systems Ghost Ring
Open sights as are commonly provided are plenty fast, but require the shooter to align three objects at once; the rear sight, front sight, and the target, which may or may not be moving at the time.
Another style of sight that is useful is the rear aperture sight; not the fine micrometer with a pinhole aperture as used by precision target shooters, but a more robust style which has come to be known as a "ghost ring".
The rear sight is mounted using the two holes provided at the rear of the receiver on the angle-eject carbine.

The idea was that aristocrats and military elites had too much control over Germany, Russia and Austria, and the war was a consequence of their desire for military power and disdain for democracy.
This breach was closed by allied soldiers at the Second Battle of Ypres (where over 5,000 mainly Canadian soldiers were gassed to death) and Third Battle of Ypres, where Canadian forces took the village of Passchendale with the help of allied powers.
This issue was particularly explosive in Canada and opened a political gap between the French-Canadians—who claimed their true loyalty was to Canada and not the British Empire—and the English-speaking majority who saw the war as a duty to both Britain and Canada, and a way of demonstrating leadership and high contribution to the British Empire.

The design of this sight was received from France early in 1918, yet it was the 1st of November-10 days before the armistice was signed-when the first Schneider sight was delivered to the Army; but at all times the progress made was as rapid as could be expected.

Quite interestingly though, this newer scope mount does not allow the use of the open sights with the mount in place, as is the case with the more conventional claw mount.
