Global illumination - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Global illumination algorithms used in 3D computer graphics are those which, when determining the light falling on a surface, take into account not only the light which has taken a path directly from a light source (direct illumination), but also light which has undergone reflection from other surfaces in the world (indirect illumination).
These algorithms model diffuse inter-reflection which is a very important part of global illumination, however most of these (excluding radiosity) also model specular inter-reflection too which makes them more accurate algorithms to solve the lighting equation and provide a more realistic globally illuminated scene.
In real-time 3D graphics, global illumination is sometimes approximated by an "ambient" term in the lighting equation.

 Global Illumination and All That
Global illumination effects include the soft darkening under an object and near edges, color bleeding, etc. These effects are subtle, but important for the realism of an image.
Another objection has been that global illumination algorithms have not been able to handle the insanely complex scenes that are routinely rendered in the industry.
Simulation of global illumination has often been dismissed as being too inflexible and too slow for use in the effects industry.

 Globalization @ Globalists.com
A consequence of economic globalization is increasing relations among members of an industry in different parts of the world (globalization of an industry), with a corresponding erosion of national sovereignty in the economic sphere.
Globalization (or globalisation) is a social change, an increased connectivity among societies and their elements due to transculturation; the explosive evolution of transport and communication technologies to facilitate international cultural and economic exchange.
Globalization also means cross-border management activities or development processes to adapt to the emergence of a globalized market or to seek and realize benefit from economies of scale or scope or from cross-border learning among different country-based organizations.

9 Using Procedural Shaders with Global Illumination Algorithms
As global illumination techniques are on the edge of being used in commercial applications, it is getting more and more important to find ways of suitably representing the physical properties of a scene description including the reflectance properties of surfaces and the energy distribution of light sources.
Under the assumption that the computations of the shader are linear in the incoming illumination (as they should be, since the radiance equation is linear), the bidirectional reflectance is determined from the outgoing radiance returned by the shader.
This construct is similar to a while loop in C. The arguments of the illuminance statement specify the directions from which the shader wants to receive illumination, in the form of a cone (axis and angle) at the shaded point.

Photon mapping can simulate caustics (focused light, like shimmering waves at the bottom of a swimming pool), diffuse inter-reflections (e.g., the "bleeding" of colored light from a red wall onto a white floor, giving the floor a reddish tint), and participating media (such as clouds or smoke).
