Fires in the Cape 2 new veld fires were reported in the Overberg district, near Hermanus. Zane Erasmus, Programme Manager: Fire, for Cape Nature, who are the custodians of much of the protected and water catchment areas in the Western Cape says that the burnt area ‘ is in the epicentre of the fynbos biome where there are the highest number of fynbos species, some of which don’t occur anywhere else.
