Overdubs are tracks that you add to the basic tracks.
Mixdown is the process by which the various basic tracks and overdubs, collectively known as the multitrack master, are mixed together in the computer or through a mixing console to create a stereo mix master.
Recording similar setups at the same time- for example, doing all the basics, then all the vocal overdubs, then the guitar solos- will save time in the long run over switching back and forth from one setup to another.

This later sleeve is used as the cover to the enclosed 28 page booklet, that features a 5 page essay by Richard Williams, some period photos and lyrics to all of the songs.
It would have been nice to have a more detailed account of the songs recording, especially information on the overdubs laid in London, but as it stands the booklet is nicely done, if not particularly stunning.
This is another of the albums most striking alternatives, with a further different vocal and the abscence of the piano overdubs standing out.

At Bill's last request, 9 of the new overdubs were released on the first "Buddy Holly and the Picks" album (Pick Records; PA 1111; 5/15/86) and sold worldwide.
"Later" overdubs are designed to help keep buddy's memory alive and at the same time allow fans to hear more "Crickets-like" group-sound versions, as the Picks arrange background harmonies and overdub solos as they originally did.

"Live overdubs" can be done several ways: analog or digital recordings, sampling and playback by MIDI trigger control, "hidden" accompaniment, or just really good technique.
The easiest way is to pre-record the extra parts on a click-track, panning each to opposite channels.

Overdubs are any part of a song recorded after the initial ‘live’ recording.
Overdubs are common for lead and backing vocals, solo guitars, violins and any extra parts or sounds you wish to add to the song.

It's possible the overdubbed version was used for the vinyl LP version of the "Two Sides Of Sam Cooke" album, but was replaced with the no-overdub version for the CD release.
For the most part, these overdubbed versions are inferior to the original, unadulterated recordings and should be avoided.
Also, there are two (possibly three) songs previously released with overdubs that are presented here only in their original form before the overdubs were added.

Although allegations were made by the British Broacasting Coroporation (who banned the song from airplay) that the song implicitly advocated drug use both McCartney and Lennon have flatly denied this claim.
The final session for the song, held on the evening of February 10, 1967, was to record the orchestral overdubs with a forty-piece ensemble, conducted by McCartney and drawn from members of the London Symphony Orchestra.
The session was also in effect the wrap party for the album, and the Beatles invited a number of special guests for the occasion including Donovan and members of The Rolling Stones.

Did lots of overdubs to Sleep: little electric guitar during the verses, and an ambient sounding combination of an organ and some spacey synth sound called Bowed Glass.
We try and finish most overdubs, so we can get Maria into the studio at a certain point to do some percussion, and maybe some guestmusicians, and then, finally, vocals and soloparts...
Still, Arie and I managed to do guitar and keyboard overdubs on Everybody Wants To Kill Someone, The Shine and Heroes In Our Heads, the latter really getting to be one of my favourite Jam-N-Ar songs ever, because it's so sweet and slick, but yet so real and direct.

You are absolutely correct, the only difference is whether the repairs were made with specifically recorded material (studio overdub)or other live versions from the same tour were used.
To say its been overdubbed would suggest the band have gone back in to the studio and replaced any errors with new takes - which they did not.
A good overdub example on Live Killers is Love of my life, I think the original is from Frankfurt where Fred's voice 'cracked' a few times during this song.

Live at the Marquee : A significant chunk of the vocals were overdubbed, as well as (I believe) some of the guitars.
Once in a LIVEtime : I'm unsure if there were any overdubs on this album, but DS points out that there were NO keyboard touch-ups at all.
There was also a screw-up in Through Her Eyes which was not fixed because Mike wasn't available on the day the overdubs were recorded (both his and JP's back-up vocals at the concert for that song were through the same mic, so it wasn't possible to just re-record JP).

I'm sure it's user error but when I start recording in the middle of a previously recorded track, the playback of the new material is displaced in time.
I play the guitar, and a lot of the parts are very intricate (at least to me).
Hey, that doesn't work either and I figured out what the issue is. I'm using the Cakewalk FXDelay with the matched stereo delay preset.

This thread is for the discussion of the idea of voice overdubs and voice-mixing (of James Earl Jones) in reference to Jake Lloyd and Hayden Christensen, respectively.
For the Lloyd overdub idea, all Jones would have to do is watch the movie while saying the lines, so that he is synched (sp?) up properly to Lloyd's speaking.
As long as the overdubbing doesn't screw up what's already there, I don't see where it would be a problem.
