Overkill are one of the longest-reigning thrash bands to emerge out of the 80's thrash-metal scene.
One reason that Overkill have survived over the years is the band members have remained true to themselves and continued to perform the music they love without compromising their high musical standards to the latest musical trends.
OverKill formed in 1979 (first Thrash band), Power In Black was released in 1983, the EP was released in 1984, and there's no way they could have started playing L'amours in 1985; they got their record deal there in 1984 on Halloween.

Overkill have got to be the most underrated thrash band ever, and this is probably the best album I've heard from them.(though it's pretty close between this and Years of Decay) They've got greater variety than just about any other thrash band, a way above average singer and some of the most consistent riff-writing around.
This was the best Overkill line-up as far as I am concerned, with Sid Falack on Drums (the best drummer that they have had) Horrorscope is a very heavy album, and the Stand out track on this has to be Nice day for A Funeral.
Overkill has never really broke into the mainstream, and they arent that well known by newer metal heads, considering their heyday was in the late 1980's.

Supersonic Storybook by Urge Overkill CD
Although Urge Overkill was in many ways a product of the Chicago underground of the era, an undisguised love of '70s classic rock and arena bombast set them apart from bands like the Jesus Lizard and Naked Raygun.
Urge Overkill's MO was to rescue rock from the self-righteousness of punk and restore it to its rightful place on the stereos of Saturday night revelers.
And while that mission was certainly stated with a heavy dose of irony, Urge Overkill possessed a genuine love of the very rock music that the indie community was allegedly against.
