Overton County was established on September 11, 1806 by an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee, five years after he was born.
This county was carved out of a section of the eastern part of Jackson County and a section of the state known as the Wilderness, or the Indian Reservation, until the Treaty of Tellico in 1805.
She and her husband filed a petition in the County Court of Overton County, asking that the will be set aside, and that the will be transferred to the Circuit Court where petitioners might contest the issues.

As we travel these roads you can see that they are paved today, as a kid growing up in overton county the only road I can remember being paved was old highway 42 all the rest were just old dirt roads with some gravel thrown on them once in a great while.
Born and raised in Overton County Tennessee, while growing up there I enjoyed some of the finer things in life, like two parents in the house, one at all times, attending a one room school (Rocky Ridge and Monroe Elementary) they were not over crowded or protected by a metal detector.
Monroe was the first county seat of Overton County, but after complaints from people having to travel long distances for legal matters, a vote was held to move the seat to Livingston.

We've found an older James Robbins, born c1775, enumerated in the 1820 and 1830 census of Overton Co. He was married to an Elizabeth Pennington whose father Levi Pennington made his will in 1807 in Spartanburg Co., South Carolina.
JAMES ROBBINS (son of LEVI) was born October 22, 1828 in West Fork, Overton Co.,TN, and died December 10, 1908 in Gray, Overton Co., TN.
