Oxidoreductase - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In biochemistry, an oxidoreductase is an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of electrons from one molecule (the oxidant, also called the hydrogen donor or electron acceptor) to another (the reductant, also called the hydrogen acceptor or electron donor).
Oxidoreductases are classified as EC 1 in the EC number classification of enzymes.
EC 1.2 includes oxidoreductases that act on the aldehyde or oxo group of donors

Method of water purification - Patent 5403450
In order to immobilize oxidoreductases and electron carriers the (activated or non-activated) carrier matrix can be reacted directly with the oxidoreductase or the electron carrier or firstly reacted with a bifunctional spacer molecule to which the oxidoreductase or the electron carrier is coupled in a second step.
Oxidoreductases and the electron carriers which may be present in the cell according to the present invention are for example immobilized directly on the carrier material by cross-linking or via a spacer by means of an epoxy, cyanogen bromide, diisocyanate, carbodiimide glutardialdehyde, EDC or FMP compound.
When the oxidoreductase and, if desired, the electron carriers are immobilized directly on the electrode, reduction or oxidation equivalents can be transferred directly from the electrode body onto the oxidoreductases or, if desired, onto the electron carriers without the necessity for an electrolysis of the water (i.e.

Conclusions: The NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase gene is up-regulated during global cardiac ischemia/reperfusion injury during CPB in canines.
The NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase gene may have a role in the regulation of molecular changes during the global cardiac ischemia/reperfusion injury during CPB, such as the up-regulation of Bcl-2, which might block release of cytochrome e from the mitochondria and prevent cardiomyocytic apoptosis.
One of the genes isolated by ddPCR was the mitochondrial nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH): ubiquinone oxidoreductase gene, a mitochondrial respiratory chain gene located in the inner membrane of mitochondria.

Deficiency, fatty alcohol: NAD+ oxidoreductase definition - Medical Dictionary definitions of popular medical terms
Deficiency, fatty alcohol: NAD+ oxidoreductase: Also known as the Sjogren-Larsson syndrome, this is a genetic (inherited) disease usually characterized by a triad of clinical findings consisting of ichthyosis (thickened fish-like skin), spastic paraplegia (spasticity of the legs) and mental retardation.
The Sjogren of the Sjorgren-Larsson syndrome was Torsten Sjogren (1896-1974), professor of psychiatry at the celebrated Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm and a pioneer in modern psychiatry and medical genetics.
The Sjogren-Larsson syndrome is known variously as SLS; the ichthyosis, spastic neurologic disorder, and oligophrenia (an old word for mental retardation) syndrome; fatty alcohol: NAD+ oxidoreductase deficiency (FAO deficiency); fatty aldehyde dehydrogenase deficiency (FALDH deficiency); and fatty aldehyde dehydrogenase 10 deficiency (FALDH10 deficiency).

 Aldehyde ferredoxin oxidoreductase family
Enzymes of the aldehyde ferredoxin oxidoreductase (AOR) family [1, 2] contain, as a rule, a tungsten cofactor and an [Fe cluster and catalyse the interconversion of aldehydes to carboxylates (1).
This family includes AOR, formaldehyde ferredoxin oxidoreductase (FOR), glyceraldehyde3phosphate ferredoxin oxidoreductase (GAPOR), all isolated from hyperthermophilic archea [2]; carboxylic acid reductase found in clostridia [3]; and hydroxycarboxylate viologen oxidoreductase from Proteus vulgaris, the sole member of the AOR family containing molybdenum [4].
AOR has been proposed to be the primary enzyme responsible for oxidising the aldehydes that are produced by the 2keto acid oxidoreductases [6].
