NG-OY ỌyState is an inland state in south-western Nigeria, with its capital at Ibadan.
It is bounded in the south by Ogun State and in the north by Kwara State, in the west is bounded partly by Ogun State and partly by the Republic of Benin while in the east it is bounded by Osun State.
The state is homogenous and mainly comprises the Oyos, the Ibadans and the Ibarapas, all belonging to the Yoruba family and speaking the same Yoruba language.

Oyo (Ọyọ in Yoruba orthography, pronounced [ɔyɔ]) is the name for a Yoruba city in modern-day Nigeria and also the loose empire which that city controlled in the 17th and 18th centuries.
What was to become the Oyo empire began as the state of Oyo, which was founded sometime before 1400, with its capital at Oyo-Ile, (also known as Katunga or Old Oyo).
In 1796, an Ilorin-centred revolt against Awole, the then-reigning Alaafin, or chief-ruler of Oyo, was initiated by Afonja, the Aare Ona Kakanfo, or chief military commander of the provincial army.

Old Oyo, the seat of the then Oyo Empire was sacked about 1839 (Bascom, 1962) and was forced to relocate farther south to the present site which is about fifty three kms north of lbadan, the Oyo State capital.
lbadan, the Oyo State capital, was reputed to be the most populous city in Black Africa in the 1950s (Mabogunje, 1967) until it was overtaken by Lagos during the last two decades.

The motion was passed by the Oyo State Houseof Assembly sequel to the petition signed by all the High Court Judges in the state and addressed to the Executive Governor against the CJ.

Oyo state according to facts is one of the few states not owing their staffs or pensioners any salary as of today.
The governor of the state have repeatedly said that there are two options; either retrench a number of the workforce so that the state can implement the minimum wage or pay the staffs they have regularly and implement the minimum wage when the revenue generation/allocation situation improves.
The governor has also explained that because a lot of the states' revenue is being expended on salaries, the masses are nor really benefitting.

This problem is not peculiar to Oyo state alone, infact Oyo state is one of the few state who do not currently owe their staff or pensioners.
It is common knowlegde in Oyo state (in fact in all states) that half of secretariat workers are redundant.
