		Oz is the nickname for the Oswald State Correctional Facility, a maximum-security prison of unknown location.
		The Latinos in Oz are mostly of Puerto Rican ancestry.
		Oz took advantage of the freedoms of premium cable to show material that would be too extreme for traditional American broadcast television: coarse language, drug use, violence, male frontal nudity, homosexuality, rape, and ethnic and religious conflict.

		The problem is, there are only so many prison plots and character types, and "Oz" has them all, from the "Dead Man Walking" nun (Rita Moreno as psychiatrist Sister Pete) to the Linda Blair innocent behind bars (Lee Tergeson as the aforementioned hapless family man who becomes the property of his sadistic cell mate).
