	Ozma (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Ozma was formed in 1995 by high school friends Daniel Brummel (vocals/bass), Ryen Slegr (vocals/guitar), Patrick Edwards (drums), Jose Galvez (guitar) and Star Wick (keyboard/flute).
		Ozma's second album, The Doubble Donkey Disc, was released on June 2002.
		Ozma experimented with the traditional Ukrainian balalaika and the flute to create a sound they called "Russian coldfusion.", This album had several songs—such as "Korobeiniki" (a Russian folk song made famous as one of the Tetris themes) and "Flight of Yuri Gagarin"—with explicitly Russian themes.

		Drake began preparations for Ozma in 1959, the same year in which the seminal theoretical paper on SETI by Philip Morrison and Guiseppe Cocconi was published in the British journal Nature (see Morrison-Cocconi Conjecture).
		From April to July 1960, he tuned into both for six hours a day, using the 85-ft. Howard E. Tatel radio telescope at Green Bank (shown in the photo) equipped with a receiver that had just a single channel and a bandwidth of only 100 Hz.
		Although after 150 hours of listening Ozma drew a blank, it was to be the starting point for many more, increasingly sophisticated searches which continue to this day.

		Sure a few songs sound heavily Weezer influenced, but as a whole Ozma is their own entity and the comments relating them to Rivers & Co. are just lazy.

		I own all three of Ozma's discs, and many of their unreleased stuff, and I've gotta say that this is their best work.The keys are fine tuned and incredible, as is the painfully beautiful flute used on some of this album.
		The only Ozma songs that really do, I think, are Natalie Portman, In Search of 1988 (from the Blue album or Pinkerton), and Bad Dogs (by far the worst Ozma song, sounds straight off Maladroit).
		The only similar thing is that Ozma uses the combination of crunching distorted guitars and beautiful melodies just like weezer.

		Kung Fu Well, the good news is that Ozma sound less like Weezer than they have in the past.
		The bad news is they still sound so ridiculously like them that they sacrifice both credibility and integrity.
		Ozma is desperately trying to break away from the shameful plagiarism of their last record, but they just can't seem to let go of Rivers' bosom.
