 Can Ozma Have It All?
Ever since I was a little boy happily indulging in Oz books, I was greatly entranced by Oz's beautiful ruler Princess Ozma, both her sweetness and wisdom as described in Baum's text, and her great outward beauty in the drawings of her by John R. Neill, Dick Martin, and others.
Ozma was created by L. Frank Baum, and as her creator, he should know more than anyone about Ozmas little-girlness.
Another objection raised to Ozma falling in love is the claim that her status as an immortal fairy means that she is above and beyond all vulgar longings of mortal humans like love and romance.

One day, however, as she sat in Ozma's private room, she noticed hanging upon the wall a picture which constantly changed in appearance, at one time showing a meadow and at another time a forest, a lake or a village.
Ozma readily agreed to this plan and caused the Sawhorse to be harnessed to a pretty green and pink phaeton, and the two girls rode away to visit the famous sorceress.
And, if she saw Dorothy make a certain signal, then Ozma would know that the little Kansas girl wanted to revisit the Land of Oz, and by means of the Nome King's magic belt would wish that she might instantly return.

The royal historians of Oz, who are fine writers and know any number of big words, have often tried to describe the rare beauty of Ozma and failed because the words were not good enough.
Whatever else was beautiful or dainty or delightful of itself faded to dullness when contrasted with Ozma's bewitching face, and it has often been said by those who know that no other ruler in all the world can ever hope to equal the gracious charm of her manner.
Everything about Ozma attracted one, and she inspired love and the sweetest affection rather than awe or ordinary admiration.
