First we compute the spectra of the recurrence dimension for adic and subadic systems and later we extend those results to the dynamical systems mentioned before, which are geometrical realizations of these symbolic systems.
There are several dualities between the past and future of this nonstationary shift space: the geometrical order on the solenoid leaves is dual to the dynamical order for the adic transformation, which is the return map for the translation flow on the solenoid.
We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the adic transformation to be uniquely ergodic; this is dual to the flow having a unique natural constant velocity.

Automorphisms of solenoids and p-adic entropy   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
We show that a full solenoid is locally the product of a euclidean component and p-adic components for each rational prime p.
An automorphism of a solenoid preserves these components, and its topological entropy is shown to be the sum of the euclidean and p-adic contributions.
The p-adic entropy of the corresponding rational matrix is computed using its p-adic eigenvalues, and this is used to recover Yuzvinskii's calculation of entropy for solenoidal automorphisms.

Furstenberg proved that if $p$ and $q$ are multiplicatively independent integers, then any closed jointly invariant set is either finite or all of $\TT$.
In the following a {\em solenoid} $X$ is a compact, connected, abelian group whose Pontryagin dual $\widehat{X}$ can be embedded into a finite-dimensional vector space over $\QQ$.
One of the main ingredients there was the observation that $\h_\mu(T_p)/ \log p = \h_\mu(T_q)/\log q$ (and a relativized version of this equality).

The group Yc in (3.1) is a finite-dimensional solenoid; in fact, Yc is a finite-dimensional torus if and only if each ci is an algebraic unit (cf.
Since each ci is an algebraic unit, P (c) = P K1 and Rc is the ring of algebraic integers in K = Q(c).
Then K = Q, P (c) = f1; 2; 3g (where we are identifying the finite places of Q with the rational primes), Zc = R? (where Qp denotes the p-adic integers), Rc = Z[16], and Yc = Zc=iP (c)(Rc) is the 6-adic solenoid.

This example shows that, if one research for a differential structure on projective limits of manifolds, one is forced to a profound enlargement of the usual notions of differential structure, still remaining on commutative differential calculi.
This problem seems not so evident in the case of the hyperbolic solenoid introduced by Nag and Sullivan, since this space is just a foliated surface, a well understood differential structure (\cite{Moore}).
Some examples of projective limits of compact connected manifolds are discussed which support a natural structure of foliated manifold, as the hyperbolic solenoid.

Indeed, since cells are also (-1)-connected we may ensure P* *0 is (-1)- connected, and hence that X1 is 0-connected.
Since this is an equivalence of geometric fixed p* *oints, and the structure map for S0 has zero d-invariant we deduce that the structure * *map for an arbitrary functor F has zero d-invariant.

This feature makes it possible to prevent unauthorized or untimely removal or installation of the device carrier, leaving the operator responsible in control of the unit's use.
Benefit: A factory-installed solenoid option prevents premature removal of the carrier and disk/tape drive from the receiving frame while the device motor is spinning, preventing possible damage to the device.
