PACAF forces must be prepared to sustain our mission in a contaminated environment for extended periods of time.
PACAF forces are well trained and have always been prepared for the possibility of chemical and biological attacks, but with current and projected requirements for forces in Korea and Japan, shortages of individual protective gear exist.
PACAF is using $30 million of that appropriation for much needed improvements to better meet our mission and support our people.

PACAF took the Commander-in-Chief’s Annual Award for Installation Excellence and both of the top Air Force John L. Hennessy Trophies.
Kunsan’s achievement is especially notable because of the base’s daunting challenges--an aging infrastructure and meeting the needs of a continuously changing population of people on a one-year remote assignment.
Prior to that, PACAF wins were few and far between, with Elmendorf winning in 1994 and Kadena in 1985.

PACAF traces its roots to the World War 11 activation of the Far East Air Force (FEAF) on 03 August 1944, at Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
By 1960, PACAF maintained a combat-ready deterrent force of some 35 squadrons, operating from 10 major bases located in half-dozen countries.
PACAF combat aircraft flew their last strikes in Cambodia on 15 August 1 973 and wrote the final chapter to the long, costly history of active American participation in the Indochina War.

 Spare jet scores for PACAF team during William Tell event
When the horn sounded for the PACAF team at 7 p.m., a pilot, a crew chief and an assistant crew chief ran approximately 50 yards to each of two F-15 Eagles from Elmendorf’s 19th Fighter Squadron.
PACAF’s score for the Operation Noble Eagle event was only 60 points away from perfect.
With a total score of 4,690 out of a possible 4,750, the PACAF team demonstrated that a problem is only a problem if it isn’t dealt with correctly.

He helped his unit earn the 2004 PACAF Outstanding Civil Engineer Squadron in the small-unit category and directed logistics and operational base support for three 120-day rotations for Air Expeditionary Force bomber bed-down, according to a PACAF statement.
According to PACAF, he managed 16 construction contracts worth $60 million, was selected to write a $30 million Simplified Acquisition of Base Engineering Requirements contract and prepared five airfield pavement contracts worth $5.1 million.
PACAF also has selected Senior Master Sgt. Robert L. Altenbernd, from Andersen, as PACAF First Sergeant of the Year.
