The installed version of PCLinuxOS is the same as the livecd with the same applications.

Lobby4Linux - wfsection-A subjective look at PCLinuxOS   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
In fact, the poster I speak of above insisted that PCLinuxOS was inferior because it was “forked” from Mandrake and because it is an RPM-based distro, it was unreliable due to dependency hell.
PCLinuxOS uses the Synaptic/apt system of package management and is not only fall-out-of-bed easy, there are no dependency problems we have encountered.
Those who received PCLinuxOS on their computers are not only happy with the ease of it, but the aesthetics as well.

 Review: PCLinuxOS (PCLOS) 2007 Final - Linux - Articles - ThePCSpy.com
PCLinuxOS is a distribution that I've only really flirted with before, giving the last few test releases a quick look in and seeing how things were coming along.
PCLinuxOS 2007 is built on and includes: kernel 2.6.18.8, KDE 3.5.6, Open Office 2.2.0, Firefox 2.0.0.3, Thunderbird 2.0, Frostwire, Ktorrent, Amarok, Flash, Java JRE, Beryl 3D, a whole bunch of codecs and a lot more.
PCLinuxOS might be smaller than Ubuntu in audience, but Texstar and the ripper gang also seem to be more responsive in getting the newest softs out there for the community.

:: Reviews : Introducing PCLinuxOS 2K4   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
PCLinuxOS (as of this writing is currently at version 2K4 Preview 4) is based upon the Mandrake Linux 9.2 distro (currently kernel 2.4.22) and, despite my thoughts on Mandrake, is one of the best live CDs I have ever used.
To tell you the truth I don't remember exactly what I was doing at the time, but I think I was toying with the latest Mandrake release to see if any improvements had been made since the 9.1 release and ended up in Texstar's RPM repository on ibiblio.org.
At first glance at the PCLinuxOS web site, one might think that support for this distro is non-existent.

I have been around PCLinuxos long enough to know that Sal is not ignorant, is not a noise maker, and is probably one of the most helpful people that I have come across on my journey into using Linux.
She gave PCLinuxOS (then in version 0.81) 10/10, Mepis 8/10, Mandrake 6/10, and you really don't want to know what she said about Fedora and Ubuntu, even though she preferred the look of the Gnome desktop, she couldn't get them to do the things she wanted from her computer.
It could always be that PCLinuxOS is one of the distros that has fully harnessed the synergy between HAL, DBUS, UDEV and KDE3.4, so that plugging in USB drives, inserting CDs, and so on, is no longer fraught with the problems of manual mounting, or with the write-behind problems that used to plague auto-mounting systems.
