PEP - an Extension Mechanism for HTTP
The PEP mechanism is designed to associate each extension with a URI[2], and use a few new RFC 822[1] derived header fields to carry the extension identifier and related information between the parties involved in an extended transaction.
PEP is intended to be compatible with HTTP/1.0[5] inasmuch as HTTP/1.1 is compatible with HTTP/1.0 (see section 1.4 and 10) and it is proposed that the PEP extension mechanism be included in future versions of HTTP.
A party using a PEP compliant agent with an implementation of the extension wishes to use it; the agent declares the use of the extension by referencing its URI in a PEP extension declaration (see section 4).

Updated U.S. Public Health Service Guidelines for the Management of Occupational Exposures to HBV, HCV, and HIV and ...
Postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) with hepatitis B immune globulin (HBIG) and/or hepatitis B vaccine series should be considered for occupational exposures after evaluation of the hepatitis B surface antigen status of the source and the vaccination and vaccine-response status of the exposed person.
Because PEP is potentially toxic, its use is not justified for exposures that pose a negligible risk for transmission (Table 4 and Table 5).
Therefore, two regimens for PEP are provided (Appendix C): a "basic" two-drug regimen that should be appropriate for most HIV exposures and an "expanded" three-drug regimen that should be used for exposures that pose an increased risk for transmission (Table 4 and Table 5).

 What is PEP?
Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is a four week course of anti-HIV (known as antiretroviral) drugs which may prevent HIV infection if you have been exposed to the virus.
PEP is unlikely to work if you commence it more than 72 hours (three days) after exposure to HIV.
You can be assessed for PEP at sexual health clinics, doctors (including some general practitioners) who specialise in HIV/AIDS, and hospital accident and emergency departments (which are open 24 hours).

 ActivePython 2.3 - Online Docs : PEP 319 -- Python Synchronize/Asynchronize Block
PEP 332 -- Byte vectors and String/Unicode Unification
PEP 310 [4] proposes the 'with' keyword that can serve the same function as 'synchronize' (but no facility for 'asynchronize').
The pattern: initialize_lock() with the_lock: change_shared_data() is equivalent to the proposed: synchronize the_lock: change_shared_data() PEP 310 must synchronize on an exsiting lock, while this PEP proposes that unqualified 'synchronize' statements synchronize on a global, internal, transparent lock in addition to qualifiled 'synchronize' statements.

torrentocracy - blog - PEP is delicious
PEP is < 400 lines of PHP code I've thrown together (download it at http://prodigem.com/code/pep/pep.txt) which, when given your Prodigem username, password and an RSS 2.0 feed, will then find all the enclosures in that RSS feed and call into Prodigem to have a torrent created for each one.
This bit of hackery (btw, the code has much room for improvement, please someone run with it) of course needed a good first RSS feed.
If you'd like to discuss PEP or the API (or this blog), that can be done in Prodigem's Forums.

When a PEP service successfully processes a new subscription, it MUST generate a notification containing the last published item for that node and send it to the subscribing JID (where the number of notifications is determined by the foregoing rules).
When a PEP service receives initial presence information from a subscriber's resource with a non-negative priority, it MUST generate a notification containing the last published item for that node and send it to the newly-available resource.
A PEP service MAY enforce additional privacy and security policies when determining whether an entity is allowed to subscribe to a node or retrieve items from a node; however, any such policies shall be considered specific to an implementation or deployment and are out of scope for this document.

PEP 246 presents a basic implementation model for automatically finding an appropriate adapter, given an object to adapt, and a desired interface.
Also, PEP 246 permitted either the caller of a function or the called function to perform the adaptation, so the scope and lifetime of the resulting adapter could be explicitly controlled in a straightforward way.

 ActivePython 2.3 - Online Docs : PEP 100 -- Python Unicode Integration
This document was first written by Marc-Andre in the pre-PEP days, and was originally distributed as Misc/unicode.txt in Python distributions up to and included Python 2.1.
Because the document clearly serves the purpose of an informational PEP in the post-PEP era, it has been moved here and reformatted to comply with PEP guidelines.
The idea of this proposal is to add native Unicode 3.0 support to Python in a way that makes use of Unicode strings as simple as possible without introducing too many pitfalls along the way.
