NEW DELHI: Orissa posted a baker's dozen to outclass Karnataka, while PEPSU defeated Chhattisgarh 6-0 in their respective league matches in the 53rd National women's hockey championship at the Shivaji Stadium here on Thursday.
In Pool `B', PEPSU, the Patiala and East Punjab State Union, defeated lowly Chhattisgarh 6-0 with Arun Bala and Manpreet Kaur scoring twice.

These persons had left behind 6-7 million acres, whereas the area abandoned by Muslim evacuees in the Punjab and PEPSU was 4-7 million acres, or in terms of 'standard acres' (into which differences in qualities of land and differences of rights were reduced) 3-9 and 2-4 million respectively.
While the Muslim migrant from the Punjab, PEPSU, Delhi, etc., was often a labourer or an artisan, with a comparatively low standard of life, the incoming non-Muslim was frequently an industrialist, a businessman, a petty shopkeeper or one belonging to the white-collar professions and used to much better conditions of living.
They are Faridabad, Nilokheri and Chandigarh in the Punjab, Rajpura and Tripuri in PEPSU, Sardamagar and Ulhasnagar in Bombay, Gandhidham in Kutch and Govindpuri and Hastinapur in Uttar Pradesh.

Gian Singh implemented the Pepsu Formula with the active support of the then Deputy Prime Minister Vallabhbhai Patel and Secretary, States, V. Menon, which precluded any kind of opposition or ill-conceived agitation that so bedevilled the implementation of Punjabi as the state language in Punjab.
Pepsu itself comprised the then princely states of Patiala, Nabha, Kapurthala, Faridkot, Jind, Malerkotla, Nalagarh and Kalsia.
He was Chief Minister of Pepsu from April, 1952, to March, 1953, when President’s rule was imposed and his government was dismissed.

Encouraged by gaining a majority status, the Shiromani Akali Dal, the chief political party of nationalistic Sikhs, began to call for a Sikh state within the Indian union.
In 1956 the Indian government merged Pepsu with other areas (today’s Haryana and parts of Himchal Pradesh) to create the state of Punjab.

Pepsu which stunned Universities and denied them a place in the semi-finals on Wednesday, played with purpose and decimated its opponent while Universities lost reason and hunger for any win.
In the second match, Manpreet Kaur struck a brace (47th and 49th minutes) while Arun Bala scored a goal in either half _ in the 28th and 69th for Pepsu.

PEPSU Road Transport Corporation, was set-up on October 16,1956 under the provision of the Road Transport Corporations Act, 1950 to provide efficient, adequate economic and properly co-ordinated operation system of road transport services in the state.
It commenced passenger transport operation mainly in the area then known as the Punjab and East Punjab States Union (PEPSU) with a meagre investment of Rs.25.00 lacs and a fleet of 60 buses, covering 11,107 daily scheduled kilometers on 15 routes with 345 employees.
(as on 30.9.1997) PEPSU has 1041 buses, 653 routes (including interstate routes operated in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Delhi and Union Territory of Chandigarh) 5397 employees and 2,89,465 scheduled kilometers per day.
