Plug-and-play - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Plug and Play is a term used in the computer field to describe a computer's ability to have new devices, normally peripherals, added to it without having to reconfigure or load device drivers for the new card.
There are a number of terms or variations that describe similar abilities, but are not the same as PnP, such as hot swapping.
PnP is a process the computer runs through when it is first turned on, involving the boot process and POST.

 The PNP's hot air party - JAMAICAOBSERVER.COM
One has got the impression that even before the PNP came to power in 1989, Omar Davies as the specialist economist from the UWI was long seen by the PNP as an ideal candidate to have on board, what with his many published papers and his stint at the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ).
No entity of the sort like the PNP is likely to go to conference next year without an idea of the direction which the leadership of the party is likely to take it.
The people voted PNP rather than Patterson, but the process was also assisted by some of the nastiest election day practices that I have ever seen.

PNP would have survived - JAMAICAOBSERVER.COM
The PNP has always had organisation as the solid rock upon which it stands, while the JLP was founded primarily as a Bustamante fan club.
With the PNP it is the programme that has always mattered and this has been so from the day of its founding on September 18, 1938.
Indeed, the reason for the by-election in St Ann was the resignation of the PNP's Dr Ivan Lloyd, whose son ran for the JLP but was defeated by the PNP's Seymour Mullings.

PNP transistors are commonly operated with the emitter at ground and the collector at a negative voltage.
The voltages used on a PNP transistor are inverted when compared with vacuum tubes.
Further, the behaviour of vacuum tubes is usually described in terms of voltages whereas transistors are better described in terms of current.

That is to say that the PNP is designed for negative power supplies and out-flowing (negative) base and collector currents -- the opposite of NPNs.

 PnP: Plug and Play
PnP has become a design philosophy and set of specifications that describe hardware and software changes to the PC and its peripherals, making it possible to add new components without having to perform technical procedures.
PnP need to allocate the following "bus-resources" to both drivers and hardware: I/O addresses, memory regions, IRQs, DMA channels (ISA bus only).
This PnP assignment of bus-resources is sometimes called "configuring" but it is only a low level type of configuring.

If you are using a non-PnP-aware OS or not all of the operating systems you are using support PnP, select No to let the BIOS handle it instead.
Some say that it is best to leave this option set to No regardless of whether your OS is PNP-capable or not.
So, setting it to Yes provide a bit of a safety net, and it will not affect the ability of the OS to perform PNP on its own.
