Topic: PPS43

  PPS43 Burp Gun
A prototype was hurriedly developed in a local factory in a design suitable for the equipment available.
Quite naturally, it was simple in the extreme, but proved to be quite effective and was subsequently developed into the PPS43.
The Chinese used this model extensively in Korea, as well as a home-made version of the PPSh41, although at first they had far more weapons of other types: Japanese, Chinese Nationalist, US, British, and others.

The PPS43 mags are ideal for use in the AR15.
I chose the PPS43 because it was the only one that fits an AR magwell without needing to modify the magwell, and I used a pre-ban lower.
The biggest challenges I faced with the PPS43 mags were A) the curved mag fitting into the mag block, B) the ridges on the back of the mag fitting into the magblock, and C) the narrower space between the feedlips clearing the bolt.

He had been informed that Elisarov and Semin had developed in 1943 a 7,62 x 39 cartridge, so a weapon was needed for it.
Sudayev's PPS43 was preferred to Kalashnikov's first attempt, but having examined a STG 44, in 1946 Kalashnikov found the design for rifle (and the similarities remain evident).
There were many difficulties during the first phase of production, as the Soviets weren't able to use stamped sheet metal to build it.

 Firearm Technical Trivia, March 2001
A comparison between the PPSh41 and the PPS43 demonstrates the long strides being taken by the Soviets during the war in the application of sheet metal pressings to weapons manufacture during the war.
The PPS43 required only 13.7 pounds of raw steel, the PPSh41 had needed 30.6; indeed, the production of the Sudayev gun over the PPSh41 saved more than a thousand tons of steel per month, and decreased the number of workers needed to produce an equivalent number of submachineguns by more than fifty-five percent.
By moving to the PPS43, a gun made almost entirely from stamped sheet metal, the Armament Commissariat was able to increase monthly submachine gun production from 135,000 to 350,000 guns.

One of its main advantages was simplicity - it could be produced in any metal shops.
More to this - by the end of WWII Germany, due to its ongoing hardships, completely copied the PPS43 design and adopted it for its own troops.
