Boat number PT 695 (P.T. Joe) was built by the Annapolis Yacht Yard Inc. of Annapolis, Md., in 1945.
P.T. Joe was sold to a man that may have had plans to use her in a smuggling operation.
In August 1991, P.T. Joe was donated by the San Pedro Boat Works to the Sea Scouts of Rio Vista, Calif. These enthusiastic, hard-working young men have restored P.T. Joe to her original PT 695 condition (without the armament).

PT Joe was PT 695, was a 72 foot boat, built on the lines of a Vosper by Annapolis Yacht Yard, and was actually used by the Russian Navy as part of a lend lease plan.

Another famous PT Boat was PT-41, a 77 foot Elco boat Commanded by Lt John D. Bulkeley, who rescued General Douglas McArthur from certain capture by the Japanese in a daring escape from Corregidor Island, Philippines, and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his exploits.
These boats, owned by PT Boats, Inc., a WWII PT veterans organization headquartered in Germantown Tennessee (a suburb of Memphis, Tennessee) are both non-operational and configured as museum displays.

The P-T boats was one of the most effected weapon the Navy had, I served 9 years in the Army and my dad was an airplain mechanic, he was one of them guys that kept the B-17 flying in world War two.
Last night PT 109 was on the television and it sparked me to do a little bit of research on them, and the brave men like yourself who rode them.
He was off the boat for a spell, though, when he got in trouble for hitting some army officer while on liberty in England.My Dad did leave behind a scrapbook of his Navy days and it includes some PT photos but they are of very poor quality.

The Unit was formed at PT Base 21 at Woendi Island, New Guinea in 1944 and was moved to a small island opposite PT Base 17 in The Surigao Strait near Tacloban, Philipine Island.
In 1945 it was moved with Base 17 to Samar, P.I. The Barges and attending personel traveled all over the Philippines either to other P.T. Bases or with Tenders escorting PT Squadrons on their various assignments.
The War over, The Barges and the PT Boats were scrapped, the personel re-assigned or sent home.

 Higgins PT-658 in Portland OR
In this video clip, the Higgins PT 658 is shown dockside at its berth at the Navy and Marine Reserve Center in Portland, Oregon and then underway on the Willamette River.
It was restored to operating condition during a 12 year period by Save the PT Boat, Inc, a nonprofit organization of Navy World War II PT boat crew veterans and other volunteers.
She is moored at the Naval Reserve Center at Swan Island next to the Coast Guard Station in the Swan Island Lagoon, at the end of the Navy pier.

Drew Cook notes: "The propeller ad which shows sailors fishing off the port side of PT 117 is neat, but -- the real 117 never "lived" long enough to be fitted for the second-series radar mast as she is shown with in the ad's drawing.
She was destroyed, along with PT 164, in the Japanese air raid on Rendova Harbor, Solomon Islands, on the afternoon of August 1, 1943 -- the same place (and day) from which PT 109 left on her final patrol.

This movie is only fl and white but it gives some fabulous footage and detail of real PT Boats of the early war era - PT41, PT43 and others - Elco and Higgins boats, propellers, torpedo's etc..
In my many years of research I sometimes stumble across people who have old photo's or drawings or other memorabilia stashed away somewhere, and in all seriousness, if you have anything pertaining to PT Boats, it needs to be preserved!
There were apparently PT Boat bases in Cairns and Darwin but I am unable to find any definitive details of these.
