In December 1938 PZL began moving the production of the remaining aircraft to a new factory in Mielec, and as the result of consequent delays only 90 aircraft were accepted by the Air Force till 1st September 1939.

It was developed as an alternative less-advanced tradtional design, in case the modern bomber design, PZL.37 Los would fail.

 PZL P.37 Los "Elk"
At the outbreak of World War II the P.Z.L. P.37 Lot (elk) was not only one of the most advanced bombers produced by the Polish aircraft industry to that date, but was also the only aircraft in service with the Polish air force that could be regarded as being of modern design.
P.Z.L.'s next proposal was for a bomber version of the P.Z.L.30 civil transport which, having failed to attract a buyer, was converted as a bomber prototype by P.Z.L. It was later developed and put into production by the L.W.S. company as the L.W.S.4 Zubr.
The delivery of Los A aircraft to the Polish air force began in early 1938, and all of these were equipped subsequently with dual controls for use as conversion trainers.

 The PZL P.37 Los
The PZL P.37 Los (Elk) was conceived as a replacement for Poland's obsolescent Fokker F.VIIb-3m tri-engined bombers in 1934.
124 bombers were to be delivered by 1 April 1939, but PZL had only turned over a small fraction by that date, most of which were P.37A and A bis aircraft that weren't suitable for combat.
The last mission was flown by the P.37B on 16 September as all surviving aircraft were ordered to fly to Romania when the Soviets joined the German attack the next day.

 Pantera 1/72 PZL 37B
The PZL-37 Los (Elk) was a Polish aircraft of the 1930's, and enjoyed a little export success, with Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Greece, Romania and Turkey all picking up a few aircraft.
The 37A was a conventional single tail aircraft with 873hp PZL Pegasus XII engines (under licence from England, I think), while the last 20 37A's and subsequent 37B were twin tail aircraft, with 918hp PZL Pegasus XX engines.
In the end, worth the money, as it is a rare aircraft, and the only kits (as far as I know) are the 1/72 PZL-37A, also by Pantera, and the 1/48 PZL-37 by Mirage (which costs a ton).

Fortunately it was not the case of the plane shown above which finished the Challenge'34 at the 17th place.
