		Pachmarhi is a Hill station in Madhya Pradesh state of central India.
		It is situated at a height of 3500 ft. on a plateau of the Satpura Range in Hoshangabad district, 32 miles by road from Piparia station on the Indian Railways.
		Pachmarhi is still a popular tourist retreat; its elevation offers some relief from the summer heat, and the lush forests of the Satpuras, with their streams and waterfalls, are picturesque and home to much wildlife.

		The Central government, along with the governments of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh have mooted the proposal of a Sahyadri Biosphere Reserve, encompassing the Western Ghats forests in south Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa.
		While this is a positive move, the status of a Biosphere Reserve does not have any legal provisions for protection of the biodiversity of the area.
		This move would be a continuation of the excellent precedent set by the declaration of the Mahabaleshwar-Panchgani plateau and Pachmarhi as Ecologically Sensitive Areas.
