Pacific Coast League - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Pacific Coast League (PCL) is a minor league baseball league operating in the West and Midwest of the United States.
The league is divided into two conferences, the American Conference and Pacific Conference; after a realignment for 2005 necessitated by the move of the Edmonton Trappers to Round Rock, Texas, each is divided into a Northern Division and a Southern Division.
The Trappers' move also ended the league's presence in Canada; as recently as 1999 the league had teams north of the border in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton, but they left for Sacramento in 2000, Albuquerque in 2003 and Round Rock in 2005 respectively.

Baseball America: Pacific Coast League Looks For Solution In Portland
If the league rescinds the franchise and takes over the club, there is some legal debate as to whether the league would be responsible for the club's current debts, which include roughly $1.8 million in unpaid rent, $1.7 million in debt to local creditors and $350,000 in baseball debts, such as PCL dues.
While some believe that the league would not be responsible for the debts, other legal opinions argue that by taking away the team owner's prime asset, the franchise, the league is harming the creditors best hope of being repaid, and therefore assumes responsibility for the debts.
In addition to that sticky legal question, the league would also have to pay for the continued operation of the club, which would probably require a contribution by the other 15 PCL clubs, similar to how 29 major league baseball clubs fund the Expos.

It was during the 1994 season that he became known as "Ichiro." Suzuki was the second most common surname in Japan, and his manager introduced the idea as a publicity stunt to help create a new image for what had been a relatively weak team and as a way to distinguish their rising star.
After the 2000 season, in which Ichiro posted his highest batting average (.387), a Pacific League record, Seattle won a bidding war among Major League teams for the rights to negotiate with him on a contract.
