The Pacific Railway Acts were passed by the (North American republic containing 50 states - 48 conterminous states in North America plus Alaska in northwest North America and the Hawaiian Islands in the Pacific Ocean; achieved independence in 1776) United States (The legislature of the United States government) Congress in 1862 and 1864.
The act granted 10 square miles (26 km²) of public land on each side of the (A bar or bars of rolled steel making a track along which vehicles can roll) tracks for every mile laid.
