Pacific Theatres (the Employer), a Southern California movie theatre chain, and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (the Union) have a long collective bargaining history.
John Gervais, the head projectionist at the Employer’s Pacific Grove Stadium 14 theatre, learned at an employee meeting that the Employer and the Union were engaged in negotiations for a successor collective-bargaining agreement.
Gervais testified that he solicited over 200 of the approximately 370 gathered signatures and with the exception of the few gathered outside the theatres, all 200 signatures were gathered while in break rooms of the Employer’s theatres.

Pacific is the 15th largest exhibitor in the U.S. with 300 screens in California and Hawaii.
Pacific is a major player in the county, with 82 screens that range from the ornate El Capitan and Cinerama Dome theaters in Hollywood to less spiffy drive-ins in Compton and Pico Rivera.

I have it on good authority that the owner of The Grove movie theater, which happens not to be Pacific Theatres, yet that is, is placing it up for sale.
Pacific has until the 14th or 15th of November to match the bid or leave the facility by the end of the month.
The bottom line may not look good to Pacific, which does have the Arclight within five miles, and better to AMC or others who want a dominant venue in the Hollywood/West Hollywood area.

The Stanley Warner chain, borne of the consent decrees of the early 50's was indeed acquired by Pacific Drive-In Theatre Corp, (as it was originally known,) but in 1961.
In fact, the infant L.A. Conservancy, got word the theatre was being dismantled and when initial queries were made, the demolition company was told to stop dismantling and instead were offered a $100,000 bonus to drop the ceiling in one day.
The Warner Huntington Park Theatre another sister theatre to the Beverly Hills and San Pedro was twinned by Pacific Theatres.
